CUMBIA DE LOS MUERTOS #002

Part 002 of Cumbia de Los Muertos, as you can see I added two zero's in front of that 2, I'm going to 100+ with this thing, so join me or not... I'm just hear to spread the love for all things Digital and Nu Cumbia. This isn't your mommy and daddy's Cumbia, these sounds are what's been bubbling beneath the surface, and these sound tremors are being felt from all corners of the globe! It's a global bass thing. Quite a wide array of sounds here, from interstellar Cumbia-wave rhythms to Cumbia bass and a very special JUKE-Cumbia jam, saved that one for the very end.

Some uplifting, new wave cumbia sounds from John Newell, I recently stumbled on his Nu Cumbia Experience Facebook group and started sifting through tracks and came accross this beauty. Progressive, synth driven cumbia. We're going intergalactic with this one!

Self Evident is currently on tour in South America throwing down this smooth cumbia-step. The Digital Cumbia or WEPA! crew as they are now called are effortlessly merging Latin rhythms with electronic canvases and the results are SICK. Enjoy. An extra plug for SE's latest mix La Musica has been on serious rotation for a minute, go check it out.

Cherman is a familiar name in the nu-Cumbia sound this track is a mash-up of vocals from Los Reyes de la Milanga and Roots Manuva. Super haunting vocal effects layered with dub-wise bass, hip-hop and Cumbia rhythms. You can expect more from Cherman.

This is the opening track for the upcoming free EP "Cumbahton" by Dj Rafa Caivano (half of the Frikstailers) It'll be an exclusive release by Cassette Blog, stay tuned!   Dj Rafa Caivano - The Salmon Cumbia by FRIKSTAILERS

Lisandro Meza, shown above is a legend in the world of traditional Cumbia, his legendary vocals, man can this guy sing! But first and foremost it's his trademark accordion rips he's most famous for. This re-work of Meza's Del Puente a la alameda is done by Felipe Salmón & Rafael Pereira of Peru, better known as Dengue Dengue Dengue! Brilliant nu-Cumbia business with clever sampling of Meza's timeless instrumentation.

Cumbia drum and bass? Well here it is, in its very inception and its fucking CALIENTE! If you weren't on SoundClould to hear it, then you heard it here first! MKC out of Venezuela first caught my attention with his nu-cumbia re-work of Nirvana's Smells like Teen Spirit and have been a fan since then. This particular track is a colaboration with MKC and Señor Mendez forthcoming on a new EP of Cumbia/Electronic jams. More news on that when it surfaces.

Sonora from Texas has been on the nu-Cumbia/Latin Bass radar for quite sometime. I will let you add your own words to this one. But I'll be honest I think I saved the best for last. Juke/Footwork/Cumbia come together for a beat that's hype and makes a lot of sense!
