DAVID HEARTBREAK IN VANCOUVER JULY 22

Over a year ago when  Dave Nada first created moombahton, by pitching down an Afrojack record to a laid back 108bpm, it's natural reggeaton swing and blend of electronic elements was too much to ignore, especially for guys like Munchi and David Heartbreak (H/M), who without hesitation began to explore this new dance style. Heartbreak, along side production life partner Munchi acted quick, developed and broadened the style with new soundscapes from hard and edgy moombahcore bangers to more seductive and relentlessly sexy moombahsoul.  All exciting terminology for music, like moombahton wasn't a crazy enough name to call anything.  But it became a nice measure for deejays and producers from around the world that needed to collect their music or felt inspired to put their very own stamp on this ever evolving sound.

After H/M's first release Munbreakton EP,  it was clear that the sound had been taken into new directions, or at least to a path to creating interesting new mutant hybrids.   When Heartbreak took a stab at remixing Emalkay's "When I look at you", things started to get interesting further expanding on the sound with his original banger "King Kong". Elements of heavy dubstep and raunchy bass riffs became enticing, even appealing to the  hardest of bro-steppers.  A long side Munchi's remix of Datsik's "Firepower" H/M again slapped aspiring producers upside their heads re-stating their mission within moombahton. That it was just all about mashing styles without prejudice really.

Heartbreak is known for his hard-work and passion, as well as his devotion to expanding and bringing up new, young talent with the first of this series Moombahsoul Vol 1 featuring like-minded producers who are embracing the slow-jam appeal that is one part moombah and one part soul!  It's undeniable, the approach-ability of soul and its sensual undertones. This also begs the question if moombahsoul will eventually be the style that propels moombah to the next level and be respected as a musical art-style within EDM.

Officially, Hearbreak just released a self titled ep on Toddla T's GIRLS MUSIC and features 3 exotic dance gems including the lead track “Blaze Up” that tares it up with a raw bashment feel, featuring label head Toddla  himself and The Jeffrey on the mic. While this EP not only embraces dancehall elements, it dives in head first with “Chaavi” and “Jazmine” that are productions mainly focused around blending the dem bow with alluring Bhangra vibration while still keeping it dirty and ready for the dancefloor. Well that's it, I hope you enjoyed that mini introduction to David Heartbreak.  Expect to hear a whole array of sounds from from the most exciting names in Global bass music to his own eclectic ensemble of dance pressure.  This to me is a nice chunk of what "Global bass" has always been about, dance music with no borders and open to interpretation while drawing people from all races, places and genres.  Expect a melting-pot of bass music that strays far from conventional dance music while keeping the basslines heavy and asses shaking.  Hope to see you there!
