STLKRFXXX FROM KAROLINA TO CALIFORNIA

So I guess this is a better time than ever to introduce you to some Brujaton, only a sound that David Beltran aka Stlkrfxxx (stalkerfoxxx for those who can’t figure it out) can call his own. Brujaton is a hybrid word for a hybrid sound. Bruja, meaning (witch) as in taking the eerie, yet often beautifully rigid elements of Witchouse and blending that with some ton. You can pretty much figure what it sounds like, but if I could break it down: I really don’t feel like I’m listening to Moombahton when I listen to both Brujaton works from Stlkrfxxx and yeah that’s a good thing. The concept is so outside the box, it could easily be mistaken for hipster-bass, synth-wave. Sounds bad, but it’s not a bad thing. The first of the Brujaton releases by Stlkrfxxx KAROLINA EP, received rumored disappointment from global Moombah Don Munchi. It was something like a sad face comment on SoundCloud or Facebook :(. You can’t please everyone, but the release was quite inspiring. A sound that is clearly danceable yet melancholy and at the end left me with paranoid thoughts and it’s creepy atmospherics and chilling vocal samplings swooshed in my head for days. It’s probably has all to do with the bellowing and haunting nature of the Bruja. The single “Crawl” appeared on Generation Bass’s Moombahluv vol 1 compilation all of which set a high-bar for the more musical side of Moombahton with other distinguished producers.

Stlkrfxxx continuing his exploration of this style now casts his second spell of witch-bass dark magik with CALIFORNIA, with news to be releasing music under his own label BoyHouseLTD in 2012.  CALIFORNIA lightens up the mood to KAROLINA, delivering a more uplifting sound, but still manages to deliver its mystique and strange allure.  I find the style unpredictable and always fun and found myself listening to this latest release repeatedly.  The avant-garde approach is always respected; you have to applaud Stlkrfxxx’s refined taste in musical styles that always comes across genuine and inviting.   While you might not get the urge to wile-out to these tracks, if the mood is right “Like this” is dance floor eligible, but doesn’t compromise on David Beltran’s vision of Brujaton.  You have to experience the sound for itself and take it for what it’s worth.  Brujaton has tonnes of potential in EDM and adds an intelligent element, instead of ripping your face off with chain-saw bass.  You’re in a world of strange seduction and hopeless romance.
